2024 Nazaaray Family Reserve Pinot Noir
At a recent Young Guns of Wine Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir Tasting, Blanck and Hilliker included this among their standout six wines from the day. “Displays a slightly herbaceous nose with distinctive whole-bunch characteristics,” Blanck observed. “These savoury notes are well integrated with the vibrant fruit and subtle oak, creating a wine with excellent balance and a refined, structured palate.” Hilliker declared: “So, so savoury – I love it. A complex spice profile featuring cardamom, fenugreek and curry leaf, with floral notes of earl grey tea, lavender, violets, and iris flowers. A little purple sweet potato in the mix here, too! A wine of really great balance – and so different from a lot of the others in the line-up.”

 2024 Nazaaray Sauvignon Blanc 
Nazaaray 2024 Sauvignon Blanc selected in top wines…Young Gun of Wine gathered eight of the finest palates – winemakers, sommeliers, wholesalers/importers, retailers – to give their take on what makes today’s Australian Sauvignon Blanc tick. They gathered every example of ‘alternative’ Sauvignon Blanc they could find and set their expert panel the tasks of finding the wines that compelled the most. All wines were tasted blind, and each panelist named their top six wines. Nazaaray 2024 Sauvignon Blanc was selected in the top wines of the blind tasting by Elisa Perissotto, area business manager, Red & White.

“Vibrant and summery,” she said, with “lemon balm, orange blossom, pineapple skin, and jasmine,” all framed by a soft nutty edge and “a hint of tar.” The wine opened with a tropical allure but finished fresh and spicy, with balanced acidity giving it a defined structure. “It’s Sauvignon Blanc at its most tropical, yet smartly lifted,” she said, calling it “an expressive, sun-drenched style that keeps you coming back for more.”

2019 Nazaaray Chardonnay
Huon Hooke rated 2019 Nazaaray Chardonnay 93/100 and noted:
Medium yellow, bright colour. The bouquet is creamy, with buttery, shortbread aromas – lots of lees contact evident. The wine is taut and almost racy in the mouth. Lively acidity cleanses the finish and adds energy and refreshment. Long carry. A fine chardonnay with the potential to age well.
