Hand-picked fruit. Each clone was fermented naturally; Whole bunches used varied between 35% for the MV6 to almost 80% for the D2V6 clones; the remaining grapes were crushed. All clones were matured in separate French oak barrels for 19 months before bottling. Approximately 40% new oak was used for this Estate wine. Reserve. No fining. The wine was “polish” filtered before bottling.
This is a harmonious wine. It has lovely sweet red berry fruit mingled with slightly sour cherry notes. It has good length with no overt hint of oak influence. This wine will improve with time in bottle until 2022.
Hand-picked fruit. Each clone was fermented naturally; Whole bunches used varied between 35% for the MV6 to almost 80% for the D2V6 clone. All clones were matured in separate French oak barrels for 20 months before bottling. The best barrels were selected for the final blend of the Reserve. The wine was “polish” filtered before bottling.
The wine has fine tannins, rich and elegant structure, flavour and acid balance with good length. This wine will improve with time in bottle and should be good drinking until at least 2020 and perhaps beyond.
Hand-picked fruit; Made without any whole bunches in the ferment. Low yielding fruit around 1 Kgm per vine; Naturally fermented and aged for 20 months in old French Oak. Only one barrel of wine was made.
Spicy on the nose and palate; very smooth, a lovely Cote Rotie style wine. Ageing capacity of 8 to 10 years.
After 14 hours skin contact overnight some of the juice was drawn off the Pinot Noir skins - Saignée - and then barrel fermented and aged for 9 months before bottling. Equal proportions of juice was drawn from each one of the four different clonal ferments to make this Rosé with the intention of making a food friendly wine.
A very pale salmon pink colour. Rich, fruity, nose showing firm acid with a very pleasant long and dry finish. A food wine. Enjoy with cheese or with a Tandoori chicken tikka.
Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed. Started fermentation in steel tanks at 18-20 degrees Celsius; racked to 20% new oak barrels to complete fermentation. This was aged for 12 months before bottling in May 2014. 2013 was a cool vintage with a hot spell in mid-March which caused grapes to ripen quickly. Only 160 cases were bottled.
Aged for nearly six months in old oak, the wine developed a richness bordering on the luscious side of the tasting scale. Rich, fruity nose showing pears, a touch of quince, spice and a savoury character. On the palate the wine is quite unctuous with an almost viscous texture and a soft mouthfeel yet with plenty of acidity. A wonderful wine to be enjoyed chilled on a sunny afternoon with salmon wrapped up with ginger and wasabi sauce; or try other Pan Asian food.
Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed. Barrel Fermented in 30% new French oak. Secondary (malo-lactic fermentation) completed in 8 months.
Deep yellow green in colour. Rich, aromas of grapefruit, lemons, melons and stone fruits. An almost viscous texture and a soft, silky long, lingering mouth-feel that tempts me to bite into that chicken tikka with a dash of lime or have it with a Thai style prawn dish! Ageing capacity of 6 to 7 years.
Hand-picked, whole-bunch pressed. Barrel Fermented and matured for 9 months in old oak before bottling in February 2016.
Only one barrel of this wine was made from hand-picked grapes. Rich fruity nose showing strong flavours of gooseberries and lychees with firm acid with a very pleasant long and dry finish. A wonderful wine to enjoy chilled, with food.
